You tell me your health condition and I’ll tell you which foods to eat to improve it.
One size fits all verses a custom made suit. Custom therapeutic diets are just that, the tailored suit! Food that fits you. They are created just for you so you can achieve the best health possible.
A fad diet assumes that everyone’s body works the same way. Take the Atkins or Paleo diet. Both assume that everyone digests and feels great eating meat. Does everyone? NO! How about the diets that restrict food calories, like the HCG diet? Calorie restriction can slow down your metabolism and cause problems afterwards. All liquid diets, no fat diets, grapefruit diets and cabbage soup diets. The list goes on and on for the different fad food diets that have become popular in the past 50 years.
A Fad Diet‘s main goal is to help you lose weight (…and presumes that with weight loss comes health). This often isn’t the case.
A Custom Therapeutic Diet‘s main goal is to recommend food to support health. Period.
Imagine, using food to improve your health condition! Food is Medicine. It’s studied and researched and there are many studies showing that certain foods can improve or worsen certain health conditions.
So many times I’ve wondered ‘How can I eat the right foods for my body?’. Which foods are better for me than other ones? Well, discovering my therapeutic diet and sticking to it made me feel so good that I’ve never gone back to my old eating habits! I now know exactly what food is good, not so good, and bad for me!! Amazing.
A therapeutic diet is a modification of the way you regularly eat.
You get a meal plan that contains certain foods and nutrients. This meal plan is part of a medical treatment and tailored to fit your diagnoses, nutritional needs and allergies. The factors that predict what is part of your meal plan include:
- Medical Conditions
- Food Allergies/intolerances
- Cultural or Food preferences (like Vegan or Kosher)
- Nutrient deficiencies
Once all of the information has been gathered, databases cross referenced and personal intolerances and preferences taking into consideration, (this used to take 10 plus hours to do! Thankfully we’ve got computers around these days, so it’s much faster), we’ve got a custom therapeutic diet.
Here is an EXAMPLE BELOW for someone who has a Hypothyroid condition and nothing else going on. Green are the beneficial foods to eat, Black foods are neutral foods and the crossed out Red foods are ones to avoid.
Get started today by filling out the questionnaire. Next we’ll set up an appointment (either in person, over the phone or by Skype) where you will discover your therapeutic diet.
